Editor’s Letter

Like many people this week, I’m on vacation. A good friend is visiting from Seattle, and in between the Delhi Farmers’ Market and our next kayaking excursion on Goodyear Lake I’m sending out Townie with 19 of the most fun things happening in the Oneonta area this week.

I’m excited about going to the Stagecoach Run Festival in Franklin and Treadwell for exclusive, once-a-year access to local artists’ studios. If I’m up for it, I might see a performance of professional equity theater Franklin Stage Company’s season-opening and admission-free play, “Trouble in Mind.”

My picks for outdoor concerts this week include Ommegang’s Fire Pit Friday with Jump the Shark, and Randy Miritello at Chez Pawkett, a new weekly series in musician Mark Pawkett’s Sixth Ward backyard.

If you’re walking down Main Street in Oneonta, be sure to pay attention to the vacant storefronts, several of which are now filled with art and creative installations thanks to the Oneonta Storefront Project. I wrote a longer article about the project for Hometown Oneonta this week—be sure to pick up a copy of the free paper for more information!

Read on for 19 best bets for a good time, including where to find fireworks, outdoor live music, Christmas in July in Richfield, contemporary dance in Delhi, a ukelele workshop in Morris, Iroquois dancers in Howe Cave, and so much more.

Have a wonderful holiday—I hope to see you out and about, decked out in red, white, and blue.

Warmly and patriotically (if you see me, ask me to sing you my original song “I Love America,” written by my 7-year-old self),

Cassandra
