Townie: January Oneonta Area Events
Jan. 3-31, 2024: Brew-Tal Murder Mystery, Matilda, Cabin Fever Film Series, Taylor Swift Night, Speakeasy, Live Music, and More!
Cheers for another year of fun and frivolity in Oneonta!
I love a new beginning; the mother of all new beginnings is a new year. One of my favorite things to do when I have some downtime like the last two weeks of holiday-time have afforded me is to map out plans and goals for the future.
Some of my personal and professional goals for the year include:
Practice Spanish and Italian with Duolingo exercises
everymost daysVisit friends in Seattle, Louisville, Baltimore, and California
Take singing lessons
Lead a session at an arts marketing conference
Complete a digital marketing professional certification course
When thinking about how to have Townie continue to be a community resource, I looked backward before looking to the future. 2024 was the first full year of Townie’s publication, so I had a full year of information about annual and special events happening in Oneonta and the surrounding area.
I re-read each issue and compiled key information—like event names, organizers, dates, venues, and ticket prices—into a comprehensive spreadsheet. I also noted 2025 event dates where they were already listed on organizers’ websites.
Some of our annual events include Oneonta Juneteenth, CANO’s Chili Bowl, Huntington Library’s Pumpkin Glow, Hartwick College’s True Blue Weekend, and more. One of my goals this year is to stay ahead of upcoming events—and that’s where you come in! If you’re an event organizer, please share your event details so I can feature them in Townie.
Submit an Oneonta Event
Townie’s purpose is to let subscribers know about the best events and activities in Oneonta and nearby towns like Cooperstown, Delhi, Stamford, Morris, and Walton so they can get out and about and enjoy our community.
Please note: Submitting an event doesn’t guarantee inclusion in Townie, but providing complete details well in advance greatly improves the chances.
Before submitting, please consider the following:
Location: Is the event in Oneonta or within a 30-minute drive?
Timing: Is the event at least one week away? (Townie is published on Wednesdays, and submissions are due by Sunday for consideration in the upcoming edition. We happily accept events with more notice!)
Type of Event: Is this an actual event rather than just a fundraiser or promotion? (Fundraisers with entertainment, such as concerts, are welcome—please submit those!)
Thank you for helping us showcase the vibrant culture of our community. We look forward to sharing your events with Townie's growing audience!
