This week, the Oneonta area has a flurry of live music options to enjoy of a range of genres and settings—from country at Red’s to alternative at the Armory and more. Most of the shows this week are free or less than $15, making them all the more accessible for a good time.
Townie has been a big focus of mine the last few weeks with writing the Top 10 Favorites series and adding content to Townie’s social accounts to offer even more ways to know what’s happening in the area. New Series: Top 10 Foods, 10 Places, Shops, Events
Two Top 10 lists of four are out in the world with Townie’s perennial favorite foods and events. The Top 10 series is a roundup of all-time favorite things in Oneonta.

Otsego Chamber Networking Night
Thursday, March 28, 5 to 7 p.m. | Wise Guys Sammys, Oneonta
The county’s Chamber of Commerce is creating a chance to mingle on Thursday at Wise Guys on Main Street. Bring your business cards and wallet – food and drinks will be available for purchase.
Open Mic
Friday, March 29, 6 to 8 p.m. | Latte Lounge, Oneonta
The Main Street coffee shop will be open late on Friday for an open mic night for musicians and spoken word poets.
Vinyl Record Remix
Friday, March 29, 7 p.m. | Club Odyssey, Oneonta
Club Odyssey at the Armory is a young adult clubhouse that hosts regular fun, substance-free events. Friday is a vinyl record craft night with Club Odyssey providing vinyl records and supplies for attendees to create works of art. The event is free and for those ages 18-25.
Mr. Paperback Benefit Concert
Friday, March 29, 7 p.m. | Foothills PAC, Oneonta
Mr. Paperback will perform a benefit concert for Bigger Dreams Productions. The band is Darcy Gibson (guitar, keyboard, vocals), Cody Gibson (bass), and Matt Gibson (drums). Admission is by donation.
Goth Night
Friday, March 29, 9 p.m. | Black Oak Tavern, Oneonta
The Oak’s popular Goth Night is back, creating a prime opportunity to dig out your black lipstick and fishnet tights for a night of dancing and debauchery at the Water Street watering hole.
Sounds of Spring Festival
Saturday, March 30, noon to 4 p.m. | Hulbert Event Center at SUNY Oneonta
This collaborative afternoon of music features students from SUNY Oneonta and Hartwick College, including Planet Moe, Ben Hulbert, Ben Keen, The Parkies, and Lily Soleil. The event is co-sponsored by both college’s radio stations.
A Campfire Celebration of “Gather Round”
Saturday, March 30, 5 p.m. | Stony Creek Farm, Walton
The Lost Bookshop is hosting a campfire celebration for “Gather Round,” a new picture book by David Covell. The event includes pizza, s’mores, and campfire songs. The event is free.
brendan with Orchard
Saturday, March 30, 6 p.m. | The Gatehouse, Morris
Drawing sonic inspirations from enigmatic artists like Nick Drake, Elliott Smith, and Labi Siffre, brendan, a Finger Lakes singer-songwriter, has crafted a sound that reflects an ardent longing. Opening for brendan is the artist’s good friend, Brandon Opalich in, Orchard a finger-picking, singer-songwriter project that features a rotating cast of family and friends. $15 suggested donation.
Rib and the Bones
Saturday, 7 p.m. | Club Odyssey at the Armory, Oneonta
This all-ages concert features Rib and the Bones, a female-fronted alternative rock band featuring four SUNY Oneonta music industry students playing music inspired by bands such as Peach Pit, Cage The Elephant, and the Strokes. The band was selected to open for Flo Rida during OH Fest in 2022. The concert is free, substance-free, and open to all ages.
Robert Sarazin Blake Supper Club
Saturday, March 30, 7 p.m. | B Side Ballroom, Oneonta
B Side Ballroom and Supper Club is fully embracing its namesake with a new series of live concerts with reserved seating. This Saturday, March 30, is the next Supper Club and features Robert Sarazin Blake, a folk singer-songwriter who infuses punk, country, and blues into his sets and tours extensively in the U.S. and Ireland.

Jason Wicks Band
Saturday, March 30, 9 p.m. | Red’s Ale House, Oneonta
One of the area’s most active country acts, Jason Wicks and his band, will perform boot-stompin’ country in Oneonta this weekend. Wicks performs a mix of music of classic country influences such as George Strait, Merle Haggard, and Jerry Reed, along with contemporary songs from artists such as Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan.
The Authentic “Willy’s Chocolate Experience”
Sunday, March 31, 6 p.m. | Foothills PAC, Oneonta
Foothills is taking creative inspiration from a flop of an event in Scotland in February that went viral for disappointing many children with a lackluster interpretation of Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. According to Foothills, the unenthusiastic actors will be grossly underprepared; the decorations and set dressings, deeply underwhelming; and there will be no chocolate. This should be silly and fun. Admission is by donation.
Annutto’s Farm Stand Opens for Season

Owned and operated by Tony Annutto and his daughter, Debbie, Annutto’s farm stand has been for nearly 40 years selling local produce, foods, and home goods from the surrounding areas and being a go-to outlet for plants and flowers.
